Internship Training Program

Supervision

Individual Supervision
Each intern receives two and a half hours of individual supervision per week.  Generally two supervisors are assigned to each intern to provide exposure to different theoretical orientations. Supervisors are flexible and available to interns as needed beyond scheduled meetings for additional supervision or during crisis situations.  In some instances, more intensive supervision may be needed at the beginning of the internship year or due to the difficulty of a case.  In all cases, the intern’s proficiency and training needs determine the frequency of supervision beyond the minimum requirement.

Group Supervision
Interns meet weekly for one and a half hour group supervision with the Psychology Internship Program Director.  This group provides an additional opportunity for supervision of clinical work as well as exposure to more advanced clinical and professional topics and activities.

Supervision of Practicum Students
Throughout the internship year, interns will participate in supervision of practicum students placed at the intern’s placement site.  The topic of clinical supervision will also be addressed during seminars and group supervision.
